Pleasant Day Re-Opening
After a turbulent and uncertain 18 months, Pleasant Day will re-open its doors to our participants on August 16! The included calendar shows a return to form: the same activities that participants love will continue to happen, with some slight adjustments to personal space.
Special attention has been given to exercise. Pleasant Day has always had daily exercise activities, but with participants being stuck at home, the dreaded sedentary lifestyle that we strive to counteract has crept into many of our lives. We plan to attack this with a focus on seated physical activities that will reintroduce our bodies to movement and begin the process of moving again. We will take it slow, but if the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that we are a patient, determined bunch.
COVID regulations have changed dramatically in a two month period. Those who drive by the center may have noticed the sign mentioning opening in May…and then June…and then July! Every time we would draft re-opening procedures, a new development in the pandemic would change the strategies required to re-open. The Governor lifted the State of Emergency as of August 15, 2021. This makes a significant change in COVID regulations. It was unanimously decided to set August 16 as a target to re-open. All of the participants who are returning have been vaccinated. All staff have been vaccinated.
Vaccines are proving effective, infection rates have dropped, and distance requirements are subsiding. This is the moment we have been waiting for. Now, we can finally re-open the Center within reasonable constraints of safety and sanitation. So…
