Medical adult day care helps people to remain as independent as they can for as long as possible. It offers support and medical supervision to persons who are chronically ill, but still able to remain at home — or who may be ill and living with their families. Pleasant Day is the natural step between healthy living and a 24-hour care facility.
At Pleasant Day we can:
Pleasant Day provides a wide range of stimulating activities designed to appeal to everyone. Participants may pick and choose from the following:
Yes, Pleasant Day welcomes participants with degrading cognitive functions such as Alzheimer’s Disease and various forms of Dementia. We understand the difficulties of taking care of our loved ones that suffer from such problems as “Sundowning” and those who display “Exit-Seeking Behavior. While participants are free to use all of the features of the Center, those who are determined to wander will be given a wander guard to ensure they do not leave the facilities.
Yes, participants that suffer from issues of incontinence are aided by Certified Nursing Assistance in toiletries.
Yes, Pleasant Day’s medical staff provides assistance in eating for those with decreased motor functions and other possible disabilities. For those with dietary limitations but can continue to feed themselves, we offer meal plans that prevent discomfort from such problems as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or require thickened liquids.
Private fees are accepted and a limited number of scholarships are available. The State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will provide services to those who are eligible. The Pleasant Day Center also meets all standards of the Maryland Veteran’s Administration. Maryland Medical Assistance will pay for attendance when ordered by a doctor after the need is certified.
Unfortunately, Medicare currently does not cover services provided by Medical Adult Day Care.
Pick-up times of participants are determined by your location from the Center and schedule. Buses will pick up participants between the times of 8am and 10pm. Transportation routes are planned out to be as efficient as possible and may vary depending on attendance and needs of participants. Drop off times follow similar guidelines and are usually between 2pm-4pm.
Yes, all buses feature lifts designed to aid participants with walking disabilities and wheel chairs. Drivers walk with participants from your front door to our buses and aid them in boarding.
For the safety of all of our participants, we do not allow the use of mobility scooters within the Center. If you do not have access to a traditional wheelchair, the Center will provide one for you during your attendance. We do make exceptions for those who suffer from paraplegia.

For simplicity, Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care follows the closing schedules of the Dorchester County schools. Safety is our number one concern and if a school bus cannot access a road, neither can our buses and we do not want to risk the safety of our participants in walking on unsafe ground. We provide closing information to all of the popular news outlets such as WBOC, WMDT, WCEM, and WAAI. You can also check our Facebook page and this website for closing information.
